When allergies or intolerances are an issue your digestive system can be a factor to consider.
The American Gut Project – the world’s largest open source science project seeking to understand the microbial diversity of the human gut found that reduced richness and altered composition (dysbiosis) was also found to be the case with all allergies except asthma, bee sting, and eczema.
The dysbiosis was most prevalent with allergies to nuts and seasonal pollen.
Potential problems can arises when undigested food particles pass inappropriately through a compromised intestinal wall (leaky gut syndrome) and may become antigens where your immune system starts to target them.
With a healthy gut microbiome and intestinal wall this should not happen.
Re establishing the gut and digestive system health may beneficial for long-term management of allergy and intolerance.
